Computer engineering

Department of Computer Engineering was founded by the decision of the Academic Council of Poltava National Technical University named after Yuriy Kondratyuka on 7th July 2008 as part of the faculty of information and communications technologies and systems as master faculty for training specialist with educational qualification of "Bachelor" in areas "Computer engineering" and "Telecommunications and Radioengineering".

Feature of the department of Computer Engineering is that it prepares specialists of two modern engineering specialties ( "Computer engineering" and "Telecommunications and Radioengineering") that provides integrated training of professionals in the information and telecommunication industry. Bachelors have an opportunity to continue studying for a degree "Master".


Computer Engineering is a modern field of training in the IT field that combines computer science and computer network technology, as well as universal and specialized computer systems. Computer engineers are  the specialists in computer networking and technology with integrated training in computer circuitry, system programming and integration of hardware and software. Tasks related to computer engineering include writing software and firmware for microcontrollers, designing integrated circuits, components and devices, computer equipment, development of operating systems, digital control systems and control systems for robotics tasks. This field of engineering not only focuses on the work of computer systems themselves, but also on their integration.


Telecommunications and Radioengineering is the direction of training specialists in telecommunications engineering. During training, students receive professional knowledge and practical skills in modern digital information technologies of telephone networks, mobile networks (cellular, trunking, personal satellite communications), data networks (local, global, corporate), digital integrated services networks, intelligent networks, multiservice networks, next generation networks (NGN), the creation and provision of Internet resources and services. Particular attention is paid to the concept of unified communications to create a unified communications infrastructure. It allows students to obtain advanced knowledge in integration of hardware and software IP-telephony, digital microwave transmission systems and so on.


The main attention is given to practical training and orientation, respectively, to continuous development and improvement of teaching and material resources. About 100 modern computers, a large number of laboratory and measuring equipment and special different generations are used for studying in the class-rooms and laboratories.
